Cake Mix Cinnamon Buns
1 White or yellow cake mix (determines color more than flavor)
2 pkg yeast (a pkg is usually about 2 1/2 tsp to 1 T)
2 1/4 c hot water
1 t salt
5 c flour, divided
butter, cinnamon and brown sugar
Combine cake mix, yeast, hot water, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix well. Add 3 c. flour and knead until smooth. Let rise until doubled. Push down, and roll out to about 1/2 " thickness. Butter dough, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, then roll up like a jelly roll (tightly), pinching end to close. Slice (I like about 3/4 inch slices) then rise until doubled. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes, then frost or glaze while warm. (Glaze--powdered sugar with water, milk, cream until it is the consistency you like, then add vanilla or almond extract) Cream cheese frosting is great on these as well! This recipe is a quick shortcut to tasty cinnamon buns. Can be altered to make orange rolls by adding orange zest instead of cinnamon, and adding squeezed orange juice to glaze.
